Last weekend we had a huge snowfall. Huge snowfall=sledding. Thus, I made plans with my friends Noel and Guy to go sledding Friday night. Our timing was good, because it snowed again Friday afternoon so we had some fresh snow to liven up the sledding.
Little did I know, there's a sledding hill approximately 2.35 minutes from my house, just down the street from Noel's. Sleds in hand, we made the trek over there in eager anticipation. How could we be in un-eager anticipation? The afforementioned hill is called Hoffers Hill, and it's behind Hoffers Plastic Factory. I'm not sure if that's the actual name of the factory or if "Hoffers" is how it's spelled, but those details are unimportant. What is important is that the hill is right next to the parking lot, and when the lot is plowed snowbanks form on the edge of the lot, creating ramps at the bottom of the hill. These ramps give wicked air, so when you go off them it's important to remember to lift your butt off the bottom of the sled before you land on the pavement, otherwise you'll wreck your tailbone.
As you can imagine, this made for quite the fun sledding experience. Noel had some awesome wipeouts. I only had one minor wipeout.
My sled was going straight down the hill, when it started turning towards the corner of the lot, where the snow banks the highest. As I was speeding towards the mother ramp, all I could do was say "OH MAN!!!!!" in excitement/nervousness. I flew off the ramp, lifted my butt up, but overcompensated and hurtled over the front of the sled.
Not a huge wipeout, but my first thought was "I hope I have a wicked battle wound."
And I do, a fist-sized bruise is growing on the side of my left knee. Not a huge bruise, but good for the caliber of said wipeout. Noel wiped out at the same time I did, but he landed on his side and skidded. It was rad. I didn't see Guy wipeout, but he had a super fast sled that was pretty stable.
Oh yes, many pictures were taken and I hope they turn out.
Later that night we watched "Out Cold" at Noel's. Funny movie. Made me want to go snowboarding, but then I remembered that I suck at snowboarding. I've been skiing since I could walk and when I tried snowboarding I couldn't get used to keeping my feet still. Although that was 7 years ago, maybe I should try again.
Lalala, snow is fun.
