back in black

Sorry, I've been neglecting me olde diary lately. So...what's new with me? Other than what I've written about in my xanga. Yes, I have a xanga now, I kept it a secret for a while, but now the secret's out. http://xanga.com/allion I've been rambling in there a bit about little happenings in the life of Allison, and almost forgot about my diaryland diary! I bet you're all relieved that I'm back! The planets have aligned!

Where was I.... Well Christmas was good. I've already forgotten most of the details, but I do remember that I woke up some time between 10:30 and 11, my parents were watching the version of a Christmas Carol with Patrick Stewart, then we watched some of a Muppets Christmas Carol, the first Lord of the Rings, the Second Lord of the Rings extended edition (because my dad got it for Christmas), and Home Alone 2. Wait...no...we watched Home Alone 2 on Christmas Eve. That was a lot of movie watching. We watched both Lord of the Rings movies because we were going to see the third one that night and my mom hadn't seen any of them so we made her watch the other two first, but then we ended up not going to Return of the King after all. So Amberly and I watched Amelie instead (because I got it for Christmas). I also got a Mae cd (Destination Beautiful) and the Ethan Durelle cd (I'm listening to it right now)! as well as a sweater that I wanted and a sweater that I didn't want, underwear, candy, a toothbrush, and other miscellaneous stalking stuffers. I think I got more stuff, I just can't remember right now.

Christmas dinner was amazing, my mom made salmon, lobster, and halibut. Mmmmm, so good. Amberly and I had some shiraz with our dinner, but it was not good. It had an awful after taste, kinda like a wine I had in Spain that was really bitter. Although my parents seemed to like the shiraz. Amberly and I must have palettes that are way more sophisticated than my parents'. And of course I ate tons and tons of cookies.

Here's a dialogue exchange that happend while watching Two Towers:

scene where Arwen is kissing Aragorn

Amberly: Allison wishes that was her.

Toby: It'd be like kissing sandpaper.

Me: It'd be like kissing a really hot man!

Dad: You can ask mom what that's like.

Amberly: Mom wouldn't know!

Amberly, Toby, and I proceded to laugh at my dad.

Yes, that is my family. Kinda like the time Toby's girlfriend was here for the weekend, and she was in the kitchen with our family while Amberly was talking about picking up her boyfriend and bringing him over. My mom was jokingly saying that my dad needed to keep them company at night and make sure they "behaved themselves," when I said "Dad, you and mom can just make out in the living room while Amberly and Nate make out!" My mom immediately made a noise of disgust, somewhat akin to "Ugh!" I'm not sure if it was the timing or what, but we thought it was hilarious and laughed for a good while, even my dad was laughing hard. See, even if my dad thinks something is funny, he doesn't laugh outloud a lot, he just gives a little chuckle. But when he thinks something is really funny he laughs silently at first with a huge smile on his face and then laughs outloud for a long time. So if one of makes our dad laugh outloud, we're pretty proud and give that person props. Amberly gave me double fists twice for making my dad laugh really hard about making out.

Wow, that was quite the digression. Aren't you glad I'm back?
