11.22.03, Saturday 4:58 pm
the best window painters in the world

Want to hear what happened last Saturday? Of course you do!

First, this is what was supposed to happen: Kristina and I were gonna take the train and the el to the Metro, where we'd meet up with my friend Mitch, and see Spitalfield! It was going to be so great, since I am in love with Spitalfield. However, since Kristina and I were going to be on the train by ourselves we couldn't go, because it's an absolute guarantee that if two girls are alone in Chicago, no matter where they are, they're going to get raped.*

So instead of going to the Metro, Kristina came over to my house. I called Amberly at Trinity to make sure Mitch got my message about us not being able to go to the show, and she said he did. So Kristina came to my house and we painted on my bedroom windows. I still have the stuff on my windows that we painted the first time we ever painted my windows. This time we decided to paint fun memories, so first we drew them out in a notebook, because that's what professional painters such as ourselves do. Some memories we came up with were painting John's room, our repeated expidentures to Carlson's, Lance's band playing in Wheaton, saving ducks in the Fox River, me telling the keyboard player in Black and White Summer that I love him, making a mad dash to Kristina's car in the pouring rain at AMC 30 (and we couldn't remember where she parked), and of course hanging out with Rachel and our best friend Kyle at the Hampton Inn. After much deliberation, since painting on the windows is a very big decision because it's not as if tempera paint can just come off with Windex, we decided to paint us going to Carlson's and Lance's band playing in Wheaton. I'm not one to boast, but these are some of the best window paintings I've ever seen, especially the one of Lance's band, which ended up being just Lance standing by his drums. Let me just say, Kristina and I are the only people who can master the art of making a stick figure be the exact likeness of someone. Seriously.

After the painting of the windows, we saw "Elf." It was hilarious, except for the parts about the spirit of Christmas and Santa Claus, those were lame. Will Ferrel is amazing. Then we were listening to a Rat Pack Christmas cd in the parking lot, and it made us want to watch "Holiday Inn." I called my mom to ask her if we had popcorn, and lo and behold Amberly answered the phone! It was really disorienting because I was not expecting that at all, and at first I thought I'd accidentally called Trinity instead of my house. Mom said that Amberly and her friend Lindy came home without telling us. It was a nice surprise. Although we didn't have any popcorn at our house and Amberly took "Holiday Inn" with her to college.

So Kristina and I went to Meijer to get popcorn and a movie, when we got a call from Lauren who asked us to go to a Blue Shade Witness show at Clearwater. On our way to Clearwater, we remembered that the show was on Thursday and not Saturday, but we checked the theatre anyway and sure enough they were not playing. So we went back to Meijer and bought popcorn and took it to my house and ate it.

Back at my house, I asked Amberly why she didn't bring Mitch with her. See, Amberly knew why Kristina and I couldn't go to the show, and if her and Lindy had just left Trinity a couple hours earlier and brought Mitch with them, they could've gotten to our house in time for Kristina, Mitch, and me to take the train to the Metro. Amberly said that Mitch wanted to come, but on Sunday they wouldn't have gotten back in time for Mitch to go to work. Excuses excuses. That could've worked out so well.

Nevertheless, Saturday was lots of fun. My windows look even more awesome now. Also, Kristina and I came up with a new verb. I'm sure we can get it added to the dictionary. Dicster's Webtionary.
