My diary got reviewed and it doesn't suck! I seriously thought my reviewer would think it was boring and tear it to pieces, but he was cool and liked my diary. Mad props to Adam, I'm so appreciative that I even snuck a link in under your name! Go check out my review, folks! [Now don't think I'm being snobby, I just want to point out that while I have a link to Rachel's design site, my diary template was designed by me. Although sometime down the road I probably will adopt a Rachel template.]
That said, I will now move to today. I had my first driving experience with the drivers ed people. Yes, I am aware that I am a dorkwad/loserwad/nerdwad for being 17 and still on my permit, but think of all the money I'm saving on car payments, insurance, gas, and all the other crap that goes along with cars. Also, I have remarkably cool friends who don't mind giving me rides.
Anyway, about the driving experience. I get in the car, there's a kid in the back who just got done driving and now has to learn from watching me, and the instructor is sitting in the passenger seat. I was nervous about driving in front of him because like I said it was my first time driving with the people and I didn't know this instructor so I was afraid of driving badly infront of him. He didn't seem to mind. His name was Charles and he was friendly and put me at ease. Right when I got in the car he told me to check the gauges and everything to make sure it was ok to drive. I looked around, everything appeared to be fine, and proceded to start the car. Then Charles said, "Find what's wrong before you start the car." I'm looking around while Charles is writing notes, and after literally two minutes I realize the parking break's still on. Stupid Allison. Next I try to move my seat up, but it's not the motorized ones that I'm used to, I have to grab the bar under the seat and pull. Because I am a moron, I can't do this so Charles helps me.
"Are you nervous?" he asks.
"A little," I say with a shakey voice.
We talked while I drove, and I was telling him that I usually drive with my mom but it's not very productive because she's so spazzy. She makes me drive slow, and consequently when I was with Charles he kept having to tell me to drive faster. Mom avoids taking me on fast roads, today was my first time driving on Randall! It was also my first time checking my blind spot while changing lanes, when I'm with mom she checks for me. We drove on 20, and it was taking me a while to get my speed up to 55 (pathetic, I know) and finally Charles pushed down on my leg to make my foot push harder on the gas. I'm glad Charles is easy going.
This would happen a lot:
"Ok, turn left here."
Insert me doing a poorly executed turn. "I'm sorry."
"Don't say sorry, it's alright."
"Sorr- oops sor-...dang!"
There were also variations where I said crap, dangit, or criminy. I really need to clean up my filthy language. I think one of the reasons Charles didn't get blatantly annoyed with me is because he said I had a good attitude.
[pause- call Megan Marsh]
Ok, I just got off the phone with Megan, we talked for at least an hour and a half. She's deciding whether or not to go to Westminster this year so we were talking about that. I really hope she decides to go to Westminster, but it'll be understandable if she stays at Barrington because it's such a big deal to switch schools. It's a tough decision.
Oh, I didn't run three miles without stopping. I actually haven't had the desire, I don't know what's wrong with me but I don't have that running joy anymore. I've decided that I'm not doing Cross Country this year because I'm not a competitive runner, I'm a soul runner, running Cross Country meets just doesn't seem appealing. My summer goal was to run three miles without stopping, and I'll still try to accomplish that in the few weeks I have left, but who knows.
Amberly and I went to Dana Cox's graduation party on Saturday. We made her a card with Trinity stuff all over it because they're both going to Trinity Christian College. We also glued on something from Trinity International and crossed it out and wrote "Bad Trinity, No good" (it was my idea). Now the floor of my room is covered with Trinity remnants and construction paper. After the party we went out to eat with Nathan and Drew. It's always bittersweet when everyone goes back to college. Amberly moves out on Friday, I'm going with her to help her unpack and do all that stuff. It's her first year gone, I'm gonna miss her. I'll visit her all the time.
Oh, I almost forgot! I loaded some of my Spain pictures onto the internet. I took over 100 pictures there so it was hard to choose my favorites, but I picked 'em out and you can see them here! You can see pictures of the friends I met there! Happy picture looking.
And on that note I'll end this super long entry.
