ah....sweet, soft, lint-free toilet paper of america

H to the ola.

I’m home. I actually got home around 5:30 pm yesterday. I know, I told you all that I was getting home today but that was wrong. Sorry for misleading you. Besides, I was way too sleep deprived yesterday to deal with all my devoted fans that would have surrounded me upon my homecoming.

Alright, here is a very brief summary of the trip. I know, I’ve said that before and written a lot, but this time it will be brief. Although at the end I might put more detail into stuff, but you can skip that if you so choose. So here it goes.

June 14
It literally only took us ten minutes to check our luggage and get through security. Luckily our flight was at night so I slept almost the entire time. I even slept through the movie! Except some stupid students that were going to Germany for some exchange program were laughing really loud during the movie (Just Married) and talking loud. I wanted to beat them.

June 15
Our plane landed in Frankfurt, Germany, in the morning and we had a long layover (a couple hours at least), but it was nothing compared to the flight. It took us 8 hours to get from Chicago to Frankfurt! After the layover we continued on to Barcelona, Spain, and went to our hotel. From the time our plane left O’Hare till the time we got to Barcelona, it had been 13 hours. That sentence didn’t make sense. Meh.

I really liked Barcelona.

June 19
We drove from Barcelona to Toledo. Toledo was a small, old historic town, much the contrast with Barcelona, which was a huge, crowded city. I don’t know which I liked better, I enjoyed both cities.

June 21
We drove from Toledo to Costa del Sol. Our resort was in Mijas Costa. We mostly vegged (is that a real word?) at the pool and the beach that week, but on two of the days we took day trips to neighboring towns. I met some awesome people at the pool! Dan and Lee, they are so cool. They’re from England, it was nice to converse with people who spoke the same language. Although some words they use are different. Harley Davidson? Go for a test drive? Hahah, that was hilarious. Ha, and no one knows what I’m talking about. Ian was another kid from England, he was a good time too, although on the verge of corruption :)

They were so funny, they made the week so much more fun. Ah, the good times of karaoke and singing by the pool. I was sad to say goodbye to them on the last night. I got so used to seeing them everyday. After we said goodbye I was totally thinking that I would see them again, and the next morning at checkout I saw Dan, ha! Now I want to go to Sheffield, England. Who wants to fly me to England? Anybody???? Come on, Sheffield is the home of Monty Python! Or is it the Full Monty? Crap, I can't remember.

June 28
We left our resort and flew back to Frankfurt. This time we had a 24 hour layover so we stayed in a Hilton overnight. It was nice. God bless my dad’s Hilton points! There was some festival going on in the city so we stopped by that, dang there were a lot of people! It was more crowded than the taste of Chicago! I liked the part of Frankfurt we were in.

June 29
We flew from Frankfurt to Washington DC. The airport we flew into was in northern Virginia, it made me think of Kyle. I really need to email him. We went to Baltimore and visited family, we stayed the night at Lilli’s house. This is the most I’ve been seeing that family in a year since I was a toddler and we lived in New Jersey.

June 30
We went to my grandma May’s house. It was the first time we (except for my dad) had been in the house since the funeral, it’s really weird to be there without grandpa May there. Especially since June 30 is their wedding anniversary. Man, that’s gotta suck; the first wedding anniversary after your husband has died. I wasn’t sure what to expect. It wasn’t bad, we didn’t talk about grandpa, and grandma wasn’t acting like she was in mourning, we just visited like usual. It was nice We could only stay for a couple hours before we had to leave to catch our plane.

I am so burnt out on airplanes. Flying for three days in a row has left me exhausted. It’s nice to be home, but I wish I was back in Costa del Sol at our resort hanging out with my English friends.

This morning I woke up and expected to put on my swimsuit and go out to the pool and see Dan and Lee, but then reality hit that I was back in IL and we don’t have a pool at my house. Ugh.

Now you have to admit, this was a pretty brief recap of two weeks. I did good, I resisted the urge to write about lots of stuff. Maybe I’ll write another entry later.
